Stand Up Paddling, (SUP) is rooted in the ancient Hawaiian traditions of canoe and surfing, but has only recently become a worldwide phenomenon. Appealing to ocean and lake goers alike, it’s no wonder that SUP is taking the world by storm. Whether you’re looking for another way to enjoy the waves, a leisurely flat water cruising board, a perfect fishing craft, or an intense workout machine, SUP is the sport for you and your family.
This new trendy sport on the water will thrill you, and the riactiva school is the ideal spot for this new sport! Whether it is a relaxed tour across the lagoon (ria de Aveiro), a cool trip from the school base to the island and back, a SUP ‘n Yoga activity, a SUP ‘n Fitness workout, or just fun in the waves at Barra Beach, there is something for everybody and every style.
We are now offering a lot of SUP activities and meetups, along with some SUP specials wich are becoming the delight amongst our clients, like the ‘Easy like Sunday morning’ SUP meet up at 10:am. Stay tunned and find out what’s going on in this exciting and “fun for the whole family” water activity!
Our salt water lagoon (Ria de Aveiro) due to its tidal variations along the day, offers a diversity of water situations that makes the practise of this new watersport very interesting and exciting, for example with a high tide you can point directly to the island in the northen part of the lagoon and return with the help of the incoming current, so you enjoy a relaxed and easy return! With a low tide you can profit from the waist deep waters and sandy bottoms by taking all the family and specially the kids in complete safety and easyness!
