THE PORTO AIRPORT  ( Francisco Sá Carneiro ) is a award winning airport, with  an anual 6 million passenger trafic, and  it received in 2011 the  award of the third best airport in Europe!

In about two/three flying hours Porto  is available from nearly any airport in Europe.

From the  Airport to the city of Porto and then Aveiro – by Train

Take the Subway or a Taxi to  the Train Station  – Very easy and affordable choice!

On exiting the arrival gate at the airport, you will find just in front of it,  a subway terminal that will take you to one of Porto’s mais station ‘Campanhã’. The Subway runs every 35 min and the fee is 1,35 eur(ticket zone Z4) , or take a Taxi for 20 eur. The trip  either by subway or taxi is around 30 min to the station.

At the train station you have basically three options of trains that run between Porto and Aveiro in a 40 min interval:

Urban line (Urbano) – 1 hour 10 min – 3.40 eur

Intercity(Intercidades) – 40 min – 11.70 eur

Pendular-(Alfa-Pendular) – 30 min – 14.20 eur

From the  Airport to the city of Porto and then Aveiro – by Car

Rent a car at the Airport – A custom choice that works just fine, and they also  have super deals depending on the season!

If you come by car, its very easy also, all the trip is by high way, and it takes about 45 min. On exiting the airport you always follow the direction High Way A1 – SUL. After aproximately 80 km you will see the Exit sign for Aveiro, its the high way A25, after driving around 10 km you will see the Exit Aveiro – Norte (Praias) , and from here its a 1o min  smooth ride directly to the beach. The A25 ends in a big roundabout  just in front of the Atlantic ocean, and here you have Barra beach on the right and Costa Nova Beach on the left, entering Costa Nova you will pass by all the nice colorfull candy striped houses, go all the way till the end, and you will find  riactiva kitesurf and windsurf school  on the left side, the last wooden building alonside the lagoon.

From the train station in Aveiro to Costa Nova beach:

There are buses  regularly (every 50 min) from Aveiro to the Barra and Costa Nova beachs, just outside the station.  The trip takes  35 min, costs 2.30 eur,  and it goes through the center of Aveiro and then to the beachs along the secondary roads next to  the lagoon(Estuary of ria de Aveiro), so its a pretty enjoyable ride and you can profit from the sight seeying too!

Take a taxi from Aveiro to Costa Nova:

If you are with a group of friends you may consider this alternative too. A bit faster than the bus, around 15 min to the beach, price around  15 euros!
